The holiday season has arrived and San Luis Obispo County is buzzing with festive events and activities for the entire family. From plays, to tree lighting and even doggie parades, there is something for everyone. Here are some of our favorite events to check out:

*The Holiday Extravaganza, Oceano—November 17 – December 31**

The Great American Melodrama will showcase the classic holiday play “A Christmas Carol.” Watch as Scrooge discovers his Christmas spirit in this heart-warming tale by Charles Dickens. For more information, visit

*Cambria Christmas Market, Cambria—November 25 – December 23** Embark on a delightful holiday journey that is perfect for all ages! Step into a world of enchantment as you walk through an immersive path adorned with over two million twinkling lights. For more information, visit

*Holiday Parade, San Luis Obispo—December 1, 7 p.m.**

Celebrate the 47th annual holiday parade in downtown SLO. This year’s theme is "Out of this World!" and features over 80 decorative floats, marching bands, vehicles, and dancers. The parade begins at Chorro and Palm Streets and ends at Nipomo and Monterey. This is a free event. For more information, visit

*Light Up Downtown Holiday Celebration, Atascadero—December 1, 5:30 p.m.**

Enjoy an evening of community entertainment, Santa, complimentary Model-A-Firetruck & Hay Rides, hot chocolate, and more! For more information, visit

*Lighted Boat Parade, Morro Bay—December 2, 6:30 p.m.**

Experience the sparkling lights and holiday decor of fishing boats, leisure boats, and yachts along Morro Bay Embarcadero. This is a free event. For more information, go to

*Santa's Doggie Parade, Avila Beach—December 9, 11 a.m.**

This year's parade will include goodie bags for all participants. To enter your furry friend into the costume contest, be sure to register your dog and check in between 10:30 and 10:45 am. A contest identification number will be given upon registration. The categories include best dog costume, best dog/owner look-alike, best holiday look, funniest costume, and best in show. *Tree Lighting & Snow, Arroyo Grande—December 10, 5 p.m.**

Get into the Holiday Spirit with the City's Tree Lighting and snow Event! Join everyone at Elm Street Park for a FREE celebration that is sure to put a smile on your face. Witness Santa light up the tree at 6 p.m. and enjoy the heaps of snow on offer. This event also features food vendors, a s'more station, horse-drawn wagon rides, photo opportunities with Santa, and much more! For more information, go to

*Holiday Magic at the Charles Paddock Zoo—December 16, 10 a.m.**
