Our Favorite Ways to Enjoy Fall in San Luis Obispo County

From pumpkin patches and corn mazes to coastal strolls and pizza nights, fall is a wonderful time to explore the place we call home.

One of the best things about living in San Luis Obispo County is that fall looks a little different everywhere you go. We may not get the changing leaves and chilly weather of other parts of the country, but we have our own traditions: pumpkins, harvest festivals, coastal walks, small-town charm, and plenty of good food along the way.

At Kimberly’s, we love that there’s always something new to discover around the Central Coast. Here are a few local favorites and fall traditions worth adding to your calendar.

🎃 Get lost in the corn maze at Brookshire Farms

A fall visit to Brookshire Farms on Los Osos Valley Road is a classic local outing. Pick out pumpkins, tackle the corn maze, enjoy a hayride, and make an afternoon of it. If you’re up for something a little different, keep an eye out for the farm’s special nighttime maze events. It’s a fun reminder that some of the best fall traditions are right in our own backyard.

🍕 Make Monday night pizza night at Wayward

Sometimes the best plans are the simplest ones. In Los Osos, Wayward Baking has made Monday nights something to look forward to with its Pizza Monday offerings. Grab a sourdough pizza, settle in for a cozy evening, and enjoy supporting a local business. It’s the kind of neighborhood tradition that makes a community feel like home. Check its website for ordering details and availability.

🌾 Take a fall drive to Avila Valley Barn

A trip down Avila Beach Drive is always a good idea, especially when Avila Valley Barn is celebrating the season. Browse the farm market, visit the animals, enjoy a seasonal treat, and check out the pumpkins and fall activities. It’s an easy way to spend a relaxed afternoon, whether you’re bringing the kids or simply looking for an excuse to get outside.

👻 Head north for Cambria’s Scarecrow Festival

Every October, Cambria gets a little quirky—in the best possible way. The Cambria Scarecrow Festival fills the town with creative, handmade scarecrows displayed throughout the community. Make a day of wandering through the East and West Villages, browsing local shops, grabbing a bite to eat, and seeing how many imaginative characters you can find. The festival is a wonderful example of the creativity and community spirit that make our county special.

🍎 Slow down with a farm visit in Edna Valley

Fall is also a great time to get out among the orchards and fields. SLO Creek Farms offers a chance to enjoy seasonal u-pick experiences, including apples and flowers when available. It’s a lovely change of pace from the usual weekend routine and a reminder to enjoy the agricultural side of life on the Central Coast. Check what's in season before heading out.

🎃 Make a day of it in Paso Robles and Templeton

If you’re ready for a little road trip, head north. Jack Creek Farms in Templeton is a longtime favorite for pumpkins, gourds, and a classic farm atmosphere. In Paso Robles, Pumpkin Jack’s Ranch offers another seasonal stop for pumpkin picking and fall fun. Pair your visit with a stroll through downtown Paso Robles, a browse through local shops, or lunch at a favorite restaurant.

🌊 Finish the day with a Central Coast sunset

Not every fall outing needs a ticket or a plan. Take a walk along Moonstone Beach in Cambria, catch the sunset in Cayucos, explore the waterfront in Avila Beach, or enjoy an evening stroll close to home. Even as the days get shorter, our coastline gives us plenty of reasons to step outside and appreciate where we live.

Fall is one more reason to love living here

From Los Osos and San Luis Obispo to the vineyards of Paso Robles and the coastline around Cambria, our county offers so many ways to enjoy the season. You can spend the morning at a pumpkin patch, the afternoon exploring a small town, and the evening watching the sun set over the Pacific—all without leaving the place we call home.

And that’s one of the things we love most about San Luis Obispo County: every community has its own character, and there’s always another local favorite waiting to be discovered.

At Kimberly’s Global Real Estate, we believe finding your place is about more than finding a property. It’s about finding the community and lifestyle that feel right for you.

Happy fall, SLO County! 🍂🏡
